An Orun Ekiti man in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State cum a Global Humanitarian Expert, Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola has formally declared interest in contesting for the Governorship seat in Ekiti State in 2026 under the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Babalola made public his decision recently while addressing a media roundtable with journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
According to Otunba Olumuyiwa Babalola, he expressed the readiness to positively impart Ekiti State by repositioning it, most especially to become Nigeria’s first global innovation hub, an idea he said he has long designed to change the status quo and inject a new era of digital prosperity.
He berated those with the thinking that Ekiti is too small, rural and with less attention.
He assured that his time as governor, if eventually elected, will bring in place strategic advantage that is 21st century compliance, and that confers on people the boldness to reimagine themselves without necessarily seeking anybody’s consent.

He promised to leverage on his extensive diplomatic and international development background; and aggressively, rolled out tech incubators, education-to-innovation pipelines, and global investment coalitions, all in an effort to explore the intellect of the people of the State as well as the energy of the young people.
In addition, he pledged to ensure his roadmap is seamlessly aligned with a broader transformative agenda, which includes a N20,000 monthly stipend for the unemployed and the assertive push for the South Agenda-marking Babalola as one of the few candidates willing to radically recalibrate power and prosperity in the federation.
“We are not here to catch up, but we are here to set the pace,” Babalola declares.
Speaking further, he said, “Just as Rwanda became East Africa’s digital capital, Ekiti will become West Africa’s beacon of innovation. And this time, no one will be left behind.”

He also used the opportunity to reveal his campaign slogan to be: “Ekiti to the World, South to the Front”.

He is also the Africa Regional Director of the United Nations Inter-Pacific Association (UNIPA) among several others positions.
