Iyin Day 2025: MOB Gets Olu Omo Of Iyin Ekiti Kingdom Title 

The Senate Leader of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has announced a personal donation of a brand-new 2025 Coaster Bus to the Oluyin in Council as he’s conferred with the title Olu Omo of Iyin Kingdom.

Senator Bamidele, made this known on Saturday during the 2025 Iyin-Day Celebration, held at the Oluyin’s Palace, Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government of Ekiti State. 

The Iyin-Ekiti born brand new Chief, who explained that his target was to coordinate ₦500 million out of the ₦1 billion being raised for Iyin developmental projects, also pledged that 20 percent of the funds raised at the event would be distributed among the 36 other towns in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

While emphasizing unity and shared development, the Oluomo of Iyin Kingdom and the Senate Leader, said  he’s indebted to 36 out of the 37 towns in Ekiti Central Senatorial District as he couldn’t attend the Day celebrations of those other towns within his Senatorial District which necessitated the pledge of giving the rest 36 towns the 20 per cent of the total money raised at the occasion saying he decided to focus his attention on the three-in-one celebration of Iyin Ekiti, marking the annual Iyin Day, the 75th anniversary of the unification of the Iyin Kingdom, and the fifth coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, the Oluyin of Iyin Kingdom, HRM, Oba Adeola Ajakaye, Bamidele explained  

Commending the Senate Leader for his contributions to the national development, the  Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin,

described him as the pillar and engine room of the Senate judging by his dedication to the development of Ekiti and Nigeria as a whole.

“This man, your son, is the pillar of the Senate. Whatever he does, he thinks first of Ekiti, then of Nigeria. He works day and night to unite the Senate for the best interest of this country”, the Deputy Senate President remarked as he equally promised to support the proposed Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences facilitated to the town by Senator Bamidele  by constructing a building from his personal resources.

In his royal address, Oba Adeola Ajakaye, the Oluyin of Iyin Kingdom, described the event as “a celebration of unity, heritage, and progress noting that the ₦1 billion fund would be used to finance key community projects such as construction of a pavilion for community events, a shopping complex, housing units, a hall of fame, and youth empowerment initiatives.

Reaffirming his commitment to purposeful leadership, he called on all citizens and friends of Iyin, both at home and abroad, to contribute to the community’s growth and leave a lasting legacy for future generations. 

The royal father seized the opportunity to highlight some achievements so far recorded during his five-year reign which among others include the introduction of solar-powered streetlights, road rehabilitation, construction of an ultra-modern market, and free medical outreaches as well as ear and eye surgeries.

“These achievements are not mere coincidences; they are the fruits of unity, sacrifice, and shared vision. When Iyin speaks with one voice and works with one purpose, nothing is impossible” , the monarch stated. 

The event brought together leaders and citizens from across Nigeria in what was described as “a mini Nigeria.” Guests from different ethnic and political backgrounds joined Iyin’s sons and daughters in celebrating the town’s unity and progress.

At the colourful occasion well graced by a good number of the National Assembly Members and Royal Fathers, also had some other eminent Nigerians in attendance who all donated handsomely towards the development of the community.
