The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has declared a two-day public holiday starting on Monday, 2nd February and ending on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026 for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the State.

Announcing the decision on Saturday through a press statement made available to media houses in Akure, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the two days holidays is to enable the residents of the State fully participate in the activities lined up to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the creation of Ondo State.
Adeniyan described as historic the milestone that marks five decades of growth, resilience and collective progress in the State.
The Governor urges citizens to use the opportunity of the holidays to join in the celebrations, and reflect on the State’s journey so far as well as recommit themselves to the shared vision of building a more prosperous and united Ondo State.
The statement however exempted essential service providers, who are advised to make adequate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted services during the period.
