Ekiti PDP Senatorial Candidate Osinkolu Celebrates Freedom of Eda Oniyo Abductees

Honourable Olusegun Osinkolu, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Ekiti North in the 2027 General Elections, has celebrated the release of victims abducted in Eda Oniyo, Ekiti State. 

The victims regained freedom on Saturday at about 3:00 a.m. after spending over 60 days in captivity. They are currently undergoing medical evaluation and treatment at the Ekiti State Specialist Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Honourable Osinkolu expressed relief over their safe return and applauded the collective efforts of security operatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders involved in securing their release.

“I rejoice with the people of Ekiti State as our brothers and sisters from Eda Oniyo return home safely. Their freedom answers over 60 days of prayers and shared anxiety across our communities,” Osinkolu said.

He sympathized with the victims and their families, noting the severe trauma they endured. “What they went through is harrowing. My thoughts remain with them as they begin healing. I commend the medical team at Ekiti State Specialist Hospital and urge them to continue giving the survivors comprehensive care and psychosocial support.”

Osinkolu reaffirmed his commitment to the safety and welfare of Ekiti residents, calling for stronger synergy between government, security agencies, and local communities to prevent future abductions. 

“We must stay united and vigilant. I stand with the people of Eda Oniyo and Ekiti North Senatorial District in the resolve to make Ekiti safe for everyone,” he added.
