The Federal House of Representatives Candidate for the Ekiti North Constituency 1, comprising of Oye and Ikole local government areas, under the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ekiti State, Honourable Bimbo Daramola has described himself as the best candidate for the House of Representatives position for his Constituency in the forthcoming election for 25th of February 25, 2023 general elections.

The SDP candidate, who is contesting to represent the people of the Ekiti North Federal Constituency I in the Federal House of Representatives in Abuja, made this known at a media engagement with Journalists at the NUJ Secretariat, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State on Tuesday.

He further used the opportunity to solicit the unflinching support of the people of his Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming election, while recalling the impacts and achievements he recorded when he was in office at the National Assembly.

According to him, “when I was in the office, I built a 32 bed hospital for my Community and bought over 64 vehicles for my people among many others things”.

He appealed to voters to shun the idea of engaging in vote buying during the forthcoming election warning that such an unwholesome practice is a cancer that would kill Nigerians if not checkmated and curtailed on time.

Stressing, Daramola said, “none of his two other major contenders for the House of Representatives position for the Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, from both the APC (Akin Rotimi) and the PDP (Yinka Akerele) has the credentials and records he was able to build for himself while he was at the National Assembly serving and working with his former boss, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi”.

Continuing, Daramola revealed that, when he was at the National Assembly, during the 7th National Assembly, he said, “he was able to move 40 motions and sponsored 8 bills”.

Also, he said, “if both Akin Rotimi of the APC and Yinka Akerele of the PDP finds their way into the National Assembly, their only interests will be to be admiring the buildings there”.

He pointed out that political parties should stop seeing themselves as the messiah of the country and as a container and not as the Content. He described the masses and the electorates as the content of the political parties in the State and at the country at large.

The SDP candidate who described himself as the only Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 and a representative without borders.

He also gave his nod to the idea of changing the country’s currency, saying if the new naira policy is meant to fight vote buying during elections in the country, then, it is better. “If naira policy is the shock treatment for everybody in the country, then, it is also better. Vote buying is a cancer and cancerous. It is going to kill all of us. It will eat into the fabrics of the Nation if not handled on time”, he declared.

Daramola further stated that he did not regret leaving his former political party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State.

On infrastructure, he described as very worrisome the current state of Ado Ekiti to Akure road, in which both the Federal and States Government have neglected over the years, saying the road has now defeated both the APC and the PDP because of their failure and inability to fix it before now.
