On Saturday 9th of December 2023, the ancient town of Emure Ekiti witnessed a Mecca like event when His Royal Majesty Oba Emmanuel Adebayo FCIA, JP, the Atayerobiagogo, Aminmin III, the Elemure of Emure Kingdom led the indigenous people of Emure Kingdom to this year’s Celebration of Emure day.

The event which was held at the RCM Primary School, Odo Emure witnessed the dynamics and the rich culture of Emure kingdom.
The 2023 Emure day was significant because a section of Emure kingdom sons and daughters under the aegis of “Emure Rebirth Agenda Group” led by Mr. Lanre Owoeye played host to the people of the community and their numerous guests.
In his speech, the Elemure of Emure Kingdom, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo while felicitating with his subjects urged the people of Emure Kingdom to join hands to build the town and facilitate developmental projects that will benefit the town and specifically made a case for the Emure Polytechnics which he believed will change the face of Emure due to the developments it will help bring into the community.
Oba Emmanuel also thanked the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the Chiefs of Emure Ekiti for their support whilst acknowledging the invited guests for honouring this year’s invitation of Emure Day.
Earlier, the Emure Ekiti Rebirth Agenda Coordinator, Mr. Lanre Owoeye described the group as a non Political, non Governmental but the coming together of group of visionaries with a single aim to achieve rapid socio economic transformation of Emure Ekiti.
The group, according to Mr Lanre Owoeye was founded in October 2021 and members are drawn from all the Professional Bodies such as Academia, Civil Service and Trade Groups etc.
He maintained that the group is championing the cause of Emure Kingdom especially the establishment of Polytechnic of Emure Ekiti.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji who was ably represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ekiti State, Hon. Ebenezer Boluwade, conveyed the message of the Governor to the people of Emure Ekiti. He assured the people of the commitment of the State Government to ensure quality education and that the establishment of Emure Polytechnic is in line with Mr. Governor’s agenda.
He also announced that the Governor has graciously approved the reconstruction of Ikere/Ise /Emure roads with improved security in the area.
In his own words, the Chairman of Emure Local Government, Hon. Adu Joseph, admonished the people of Emure to do their best to build the community since there is no other place they can call their own apart from Emure.
He specifically thanked the people for their support as well as the Governor of Ekiti State for creating an enabling environment which has birthed a lot of infrastructural developments in the State.
Elder Oluremi Olorunleke while bringing the good tidings of Senator Yemi Adaramodu, thanked the people of the community for their unwavering support especially when he was contesting for the Ekiti South Senatorial seat in the constituency.
He declares that even though, the Senator regretted his absence, he cannot but felicitate with Emure people on their special day.
The President of Emure Ekiti Progressive Association (EEPA), Pastor, Dr. A.B Ibidapo, highlighted the achievements of the Association on Health, Ongoing Civic Centre, the establishment of Emure Polytechnic while also appealing to the state government to look into the matter of the only financial institution in the entire local government which has been under lock and key since it was attacked by men of the underworld some years ago.
A total of 41 personalities were honoured in various categories including Olasetemi Bode Thompson, Managing Director, GMT Group of Companies in Abuja. The business mogul expressed his happiness at being honoured by the people of Emure Kingdom.
“I love the People of Emure, the accommodating spirit and even the Elemure of Emure, a wonderful King and I wish Emure people all the best” he concluded.
The Emure Ekiti day 2023 tagged: “Establishing Emure Ekiti Polytechnic Is A Brilliant Idea”, saw the people of the community coming out in their numbers to celebrate the important day.
Also, in an effort to ensure that academic work commences as soon as possible at the Emure Ekiti Polytechnic in the year 2024, all the quarters in the ancient Emure Kingdom, clubs, streets associations, individuals, groups, guests and dignitaries contributed immensely towards the actualization of the Emure Ekiti Polytechnic.
The display of culturally oriented groups, songs, panygerics, history of Emure Kingdom, different dance steps, donations to mention a few characterized December 9th 2023 in the ancient kingdom.
Indeed, the Emure Ekiti Day Celebrations 2023 was an opportunity to unite all the sons and daughters of Emure, by ensuring both old and young, men and women, individuals and collectively willingly donates according to their capacities towards the Emure Ekiti Polytechnic project.
