Ado Ekiti Progressive Union Holds Free Health Mission

… Wants Residents To Participate

All is now set for the Ado Ekiti Progressive Union, APU, to hold a free health mission on Saturday 23rd December aimed at screening and treating the common ailments for its members and the residents of the State Capital as part of the activities lined up by them to celebrate the End of the Year 2023.

Addressing newsmen at her residence in Ado-Ekiti, the former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Professor Modupe Adelabu, the initiator of the Free Health Mission, said the programme, tagged “The APU Free Health Mission,” would hold in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

She stated that the event is being co-sponsored by Mr Basorun Tope Alabi, Aare Khalif Adebiyi, Honourable Bolaji Olagbaju, Honourable Ayo Adegbite for APU and handled by a Medical Consultant, from the Development Support International (DSI).

Adelabu explained further that the main focus of the programme is achieving the common health related issues which, among others, include Ophthalmological consultations with distribution of free eyeglasses, general consultations, as well as screening for hypertension and diabetes.

Other areas of services are free medications, simple health education procedures, and reproductive health counselling.

According to the Professor Adelabu, she said, “the free medical mission is one of her priorities in the area of giving back to her people. She said the programme would henceforth holds annually.

Adelabu also added that the programme will serve as alternative access to healthcare delivery especially to her people at the grassroots and to support the good work of the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in providing free and qualitative health care for the vulnerable as enshrined in his 6-point agenda.

Continuing, the former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, pointed out that since the current Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s desire is to continue to find ways of improving the health status of his ever increasing population, assured that she would not relent in making sure the programme will continue to focus on promoting good health, detecting diseases early, and offering treatment and rehabilitation, particularly in the area of eye checks”, the renowned Professor submitted.
