Follow Up On Old Stories, Martins Oloja Charges Journalists During IPC Workshop

The current Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Guardian Newspaper in Nigeria, Martins Oloja has charged journalists across board to always endeavor to follow up on old stories seems to have been forgotten by the public for them to be outstanding in the noble profession. 

Martins Oloja stated the above while addressing the participants at the two days workshop organized by the International Press Centre for a total of 40 journalists that cut across the Southwest States of Ogun, Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Oyo and took place at the Royal Birds Hotels, Alagbaka in Akure, the Ondo State Capital. 

Oloja speaking further empathized the need for journalists to always dig deep into stories before they are published to showcase themselves and maintain professionalism in the media profession.

Also, speaking at the two day workshop, the Executive Director of the International Press Centre, IPC, Mr Lanre Arogundade emphasized to journalists the importance of them fact checking their stories to eliminate doubts and reduce the trend of fake news in the society. 

Arogundade who demonstrated to the journalists at the two days workshop how they can fact check their stories before publishing them, urged them to take what they have learnt about fact checking to heart and make use of the guidelines he taught them. 

He also enjoined them to pass the same information about fact checking to their colleagues who were not able to participate in the two day workshop.
