Kekemeke Unveils Plans For Governorship Race 

… Promises To Focus On Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructure, Youth Empowerment, Health, Others

One of the Governorship Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State who is also the current Vice Chairman of the party in the Southwest of the Country, Barrister Honourable Duerimini Isaac Kekemeke has officially unveiled his plans to run for the Ondo State Governorship, promising to focus on Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Infrastructure, Youth Empowerment, Health and as well reform the Ondo State Civil Service to be more efficient and productive. 

Honourable Duerimini Isaac Kekemeke made the above disclosure on Tuesday while addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ, in Akure, the Ondo State Capital. 

Kekemeke in his text for the press conference said he is presenting himself to run for the Governorship seat of Ondo State because he is better equipped than he was four years ago.  

He urged the APC party faithfuls in Ondo State to consider him to be elected as the party’s flag bearer because he is more experienced as a leader and well armed with the vision, mission, aim, programmes, goals, objectives and core values which makes him different from other contenders.

Adding, Kekemeke called on the APC delegates in Ondo State to consider him, being an experienced captain who is thoroughly schooled in party administration and governance to steer the ship of the State to sail through the current tough whirlwind, political challenges and end the era where the State is always in the news for the wrong reasons. 

Speaking further, he said, “the people of Ondo State can no longer afford to amuse themselves with bare pettiness, low sentiments, and prejudices that have rudely arrested their growth and development. We need a leadership for the State, a leadership not only for a segment of the State but for the whole State. We don’t need a roadside Governor”, he declared. 

Continuing, Kekemeke maintained that “Ondo State needs a leadership that sufficiently understands the philosophy of the present Federal government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and its Renewed Hope programme for effective partnership and collaboration; a leadership that will uphold the tenets and ideals of good governance bequeathed to us by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and PA Michael Adekunle Ajasin and others.

“He boldly declares that he has yielded to the calls from far and near, from within and outside of Ondo State on his take in Ondo 2024 governorship election. He appreciated those who urged him to run, most especially for their concerns”. 

He however humbly and officially affirm his participation in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC slated to hold on the 20th of April, 2024.

He thereafter expressed his total resolve being a man already tested and well prepared, to take on the onerous task of steering the affairs of the State as Governor, considering his past records and pedigree which he said placed him above all other APC Aspirants in Ondo State. 

It would be recalled that Barrister Honourable Duerimini Isaac Kekemeke, fondly called ‘Lekeleke’ has served as a former Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG); former Attorney General; former Commissioner for Works, Lands and Housing; Minority Leader in the State House of Assembly; National Examinations Council Board Chairman; pioneer APC State Chairman; and at present APC National Vice Chairman South-West and at all these periods, he said he had not let the people down.

Spelling out the details of his programmes and agenda for the people of Ondo State, Kekemeke pledged that if he is picked as the party’s flag bearer, in the April 20th, 2024 APC Primary Election, he will ensure there is an industrial take-off of Ondo State through prioritised investment in human and natural endowments in the State, change its current “Civil Service” status, grow the revenue base of the State with corresponding increase in government spending for the good of the people.

He vowed to offer free and compulsory primary education, free secondary school education, highly subsidised tertiary education, quality health services for all including the establishment of a pharmaceutical company and the “Ibile” hospital. 

He promised that his regime if given the opportunity will also make adequate provision for availability of food and employment opportunities through the civil farmer (agbe olowo osu) and the establishment of small scale agro-allied industries.

“We will boost the Tourism Sector using  the Idanre hilltop road, Fagunwa literary village, rehabilitation of Ebomi lake and transformation of our beautiful Araromi seaside as a guide. 

Also, he said value will be placed on the protection and promotion of the interest of women and youth through intentional programmes of interest free loans and empowerment.

Making his submissions, Kekemeke promised that the Ondo State of his dream is to make businesses to strive and create jobs for the teaming youth out of every of the natural resource in the State. “The state of my dream is a state where no one needs to see or know the Governor or anyone in government to feel the impact of the government”.
