12 Suspects Arrested In Ondo For Bunkering, Illegal Mining, Others

A total of 12 suspects have been arrested in Ondo State recently for different offences ranging from bunkering, stealing, illegal mining among others by the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

Making the arrest public, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC in Ondo State Command, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor in a statement made available to media houses on Thursday, explained that the collaboration of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State command with the Nigeria Army first led to the arrest of 3 suspects namely Oduga Promise, 32 years old; Ajimakin Sunday, 28 years old and Adebayo Segun, 18 years old for engaging in illegal oil bunkering at Alape area of Igbokoda in Ilaje local government area of Ondo State on the 6th of September, 2024 at about 4pm. 

He listed the exhibits recovered from them to include 12,000 litres of illegally refined petrol and a Toyota Sienna Car with the registration number (Ondo AKR876 NP) used in ferrying the petroleum product. 

According to DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, he revealed how 5 illegal miners namely Kabiru Muazu, male, 27 years old; Aminu Adamu, male, 30 years; Aminu Garuba, male; Buhari Lawal, Male, 25 years and Mustapha Auwal, male, 18 years were arrested at Ogunlepa mining site at the Odigbo local government area on the 3rd of September,  2024 at about 2:30pm.

Adding, the NSCDC spokesperson in Ondo State, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor stated that others like Richard Sunday, 20 years old and Bashiru Abdullahi, male, 20 years old, were also arrested at Imafon in Akure North on the 7th of September, 2024 for stealing and buying stolen goods while Aderinboye Adesola, male, 44 years old was arrested at Oda town on the 9th of September, 2024.

Aidamenbor also added that one Paul Johnson, male, 35 years old, was arrested in Ore, Odigbo LGA for vandalising and stealing a 33 KVA aluminium cables concealed in a commercial vehicle while on the way to Lagos. 

While parading the suspects before newsmen in Akure,  the State capital,  Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye warned that his men would not allow the country’s national wealth to be plundered by some selfish elements.

He admonished the public to always give timely and useful information to security agencies to rid the State of criminals.
