The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade 1, has hailed the popular Human Rights Activist, Barrister Femi Falana, SAN; the Senator representing the Ekiti South Senatorial District and the Spokesperson for the Nigerian Senate, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, and many others over their numerous contributions towards the development of Ilawe Ekiti Community.

The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, gave commendation while addressing the Sons and Daughters of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom and several other dignitaries present during the 2024 Ilawe Unity Day Celebrations held in Ilawe Ekiti at the Local Government Training School premises on Saturday.
According to the prominent Ilawe Ekiti Traditional Ruler, he said, “if not for the likes of Barrister Femi Falana, SAN and Senator Yemi Adaramodu, and many others whose names he did not mention, citing the Federal College of Education in Ilawe Ekiti and some other Federal Government projects would not have been made possible. Each time we encounter brick walls while pursuing the Federal Institution and projects to be cited in Ilawe Ekiti, those two people and several others have always been helpful in making things easy through their links and connections”.
Oba Ajibade expressed joy that in his own time, aside citing the Federal College of Education in Ilawe Ekiti, he revealed how other projects like the annex of the Federal Teaching Hospital at Ido Ekiti, High Court Complex, Magistrate Court, General Hospital and several good access roads to Ilawe Ekiti from not less than five neighbouring towns, including the State Capital, Ado Ekiti have been achieved, with more still being expected.
He also used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his love and contributions towards the development of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom through some of the road projects and appointments he approved.
Oba Alabi pointing out, specifically expressed gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for completing the major roads such as Ilawe Ekiti to Erinjiyan Ekiti, Ilawe Ekiti to Igede Ekiti, Ilawe Ekiti to Ado Ekiti as well as the Ilawe Ekiti to Ikere Ekiti which is presently ongoing.

Oba Alabi used the opportunity to present awards to some indigenes of the town such as Mr Richard Apollo, Professor Ifedayo Akomolede and Late Mrs Olabisi Oluyemi in recognition of their love for peace, progress and support towards the development of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom.
Also, those who were honoured with Chieftaincy titles by the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade 1 are Senator Yomi Rasak, Alhaji Dr Adesanya as Baba Bobadara of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom and wife, Mrs Afolasade Adesanya as Yeye Bobadara of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom.
Earlier, while giving his welcome address, the Chairman, Planning Committee for the 2024 Ilawe Ekiti Unity Day, Barrister Femi Bankole, enjoined the Sons and Daughters of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom to continue to contribute their best to the development and growth of the ancient community.

He used the opportunity to officially announced the unveiling of a new Ilawe Ekiti anthem which was composed by one of the illustrious Sons, Mr Dele Amos Ojo under the supervision of High Chief Ajibade Olubunmi.
The highlights of the 2024 Ilawe Ekiti Unity Day event was the fund raising of the sums of N500 million coordinated by Architect Dipo Ajayi, an Ilupeju Ekiti Illustrious Son.
Present at the event includes the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID at the Force Headquarters in Abuja; the Olowa of Igbaraoke Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede Iludemiloye, Ogidi III, Senator Yemi Adaramodu representing the Ekiti South Senatorial District at the Senate, the Bishop of Ekiti Catholic Diocese, Bishop Felix Ajakaye among many others.
