Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa have officially taken the oath of office as the 7th Governor of Ondo State, as well as Dr Olayide Owolabi Adelami and the Deputy Governor, thereby marking the beginning of a fresh four-year term in Officefor both of them.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, was well attended by dignitaries and residents from within and outside the State.
Aiyedatiwa first became the Executive Governor of Ondo State in December 2023, following the passing away of his former boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Now, he is starting his own term, having won the gubernatorial election across all 18 local government areas of the State late last year 2024.
As part of his inauguration, Aiyedatiwa have announced a 7-point agenda, which he will present to the people of Ondo State. The agenda is expected to outline his vision for the state’s development and growth.

In a gesture of mercy, Aiyedatiwa have also granted clemency to 43 inmates, including eight convicts who were released, and 35 others who had their sentences commuted. This move is seen as a significant step towards justice reform and rehabilitation in the State.
The inauguration ceremony is preceded by a series of events, including a Jumat Service, a Beach Sunsplash, and a Church Thanksgiving Service. The event is designed to showcase the state’s cultural and tourism potential.
As Aiyedatiwa begins his term, he calls on the people of Ondo State to support him in his vision for the state’s development. With his 7-point agenda and commitment to justice reform, Aiyedatiwa is poised to make a positive impact on the state.

Present at the swearing in event were the Governors of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
Also present includes Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko; the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Chief Alli Olanusi and top politicians under the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State among several others.
