Abiodun Appoints Apelogun as Amirul Hajj for 2026 Pilgrimage

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of Alhaji (Prince) Shamsudeen Adebayo Apelogun as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
Apelogun, who is the Asiwaju Adinni of Ogun State and Baba Adinni of Remoland, will lead Muslim pilgrims from the state during the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In a related development, the governor also approved the appointment of Sheikh Zakariyah Ishaq Olorungbebe as the Chairman of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for the 2026 Hajj operation.
The chairman is expected to oversee the administrative and operational activities of the board to ensure the smooth coordination of the pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.
The appointments, according to the state government, form part of ongoing preparations aimed at ensuring a well-organised and successful Hajj exercise for pilgrims from Ogun State.
Governor Abiodun charged the Amirul Hajj and the board chairman to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, integrity and a strong sense of commitment.
He emphasized the need for effective leadership, proper coordination and collaboration among officials involved in the Hajj operation to guarantee the comfort, safety and spiritual fulfillment of all pilgrims.
The Ogun State Government also reaffirmed its commitment to providing the necessary support and structures needed to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage for all intending pilgrims from the state.
