Aiyedatiwa’s Aide Kicks Against Sowore, PDP Planned Akure Protest

An aide to the Governor of Ondo State, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, in person of Sunday Olugbenga Abire, the Special Assistant on New Media has kicked against Omoyele Sowore’s plan to organize a protest in Akure, the Ondo State Capital on Monday morning.

Reacting to the move by the Revolution Now Activist, Omoyele Sowore to incite the public and cause unrest in Ondo State, Abire break the silence in the late hours of Sunday night, about the evil plans of the PDP and Sowore to cause unrest in Akure under the guise of protest. 

According to Abire, he said, plans have been uncovered how PDP and Omoyele Sowore have connived to truncate the peace of Ondo State with a needless protest even after the President had addressed Nigerians satisfactorily. “One would ask what they intend to gain in this devilish disruption of peace that the people of Ondo state have enjoyed so far since the protest began.

He described the inciting press statement by the PDP Publicity Secretary in Ondo state, Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, which surfaced yesterday to discredit the path of peace chosen by the people of Ondo state by not looting and burning government properties in the name of protest, where he angrily lashed out on every citizen who had toed the path of true greatness and patriotism for choosing dialogue instead of chaotic procession on the streets like it happened during the #EndSARS saga where arsonists and anarchists took over”.

He berated the PDP for raining subtle abuses on religious leaders, students and the youths for allegedly being induced with cash by the Governor of Ondo State. “This insensitive narrative was unprofessionally and shamelessly echoed by Sahara Reporters, with the amateur video of Ondo citizens who the medium erroneously called thugs. Till now, both PDP and Sowore’s Sahara Reporters could not show proof of disbursement of cash to anyone in Ondo state.

It is instructive to note that Peretei miraculously stumbled upon common sense while highlighting the inimical outcome of the protest he criticized Governor Aiyedatiwa for not allowing to happen in Ondo state in the first paragraph of his ill-conceived press statement.

“The End Bad Governance protests that broke out across the country on Thursday, Ist August, 2024 have left further misery, anguish and death in many cities. As at the last count, more than 17 deaths have been recorded with hundreds in several health facilities receiving treatment. 24 hours curfew declared in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Zamfara and Bornu states due to the wanton destruction of public and private properties and lives in the course of the protests”

Since government exists basically to protect lives and properties, Governor Aiyedatiwa should have been praised by PDP and its members for averting the terrible outcome of the protest as highlighted by Peretei in his spurious press statement in Ondo state.

God is kind to the people of Ondo state as the evil plan hatched at Brentford, United Kingdom by the PDP and friends of Omoyele Sowore to disrupt the peace of Ondo state has been uncovered. It is clear that those planning to protest in Akure on the 5th of August have a sinister agenda other than engendering good governance. 

We are aware that plans are on ground to import protesters from neighboring states since it’s already a known fact that Ondo people have decided to allow reason prevail instead of rapacious and noisy procession on the streets.

While we call on traditional rulers, religious leaders, students and youths of Ondo state to ignore the evil plan being hatched in Brentford by anarchists masquerading as patriots, we wish to mark the faces of the purveyors of unrest so that the long arm of the law can catch up with them decisively. The voices of Nigerians have been heard loudly and it’s time to give our leaders enough time to birth the positive change that we all yearn for.

Playing politics with a dead protest to discredit Governor Aiyedatiwa in order to activate a dead political ambition is not just ungodly but dastardly wicked. The people of Ondo state are satisfied with the purposeful leadership they have experienced under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The PDP should not be angry that peace is reigning in Ondo state.
