The leadership of the Nigerian government led by His Excellency, the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, some other State Governors and key stakeholders in the Country today attended the final burial ceremony to lay to rest the remains of the former Governor of Ondo State, Late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, where glowing tributes were also paid to him in his Owo Country Home.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan in a report sent to Treasure Newspaper on Friday evening, revealed that Mr President who was represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, said Nigeria has lost a man whose legacy will endure, emphasizing that rather than mourn, urged the Ondo State people to rather celebrate his life and contributions to humanity.

While speaking at the event, President Bola Tinubu highlighted Akeredolu’s lasting impact on history and expressed that he will always be revered, describing the former governor and associate as a highly intelligent individual and a dogged fighter.

Speaking at the Service, which was held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Imola, Owo, Governor Aiyedatiwa, eulogized his former principal and hailed his unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law, which earned him his colleague governors’ respect and solidarity.

Accompanied to the event by his deputy, Chief Olayide Adelami and other top government functionaries, Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed Akeredolu’s multifaceted impact on the society, reflecting on the accolades and tributes bestowed upon him from various quarters.

In his sermon titled: “The Brevity of Life”, the Anglican Bishop of Ikwerre and Archbishop of Niger Delta Province, Rev. Blessing Enyindah, emphasized the transient nature of life and the importance of making a meaningful impact while on earth.

Enyindah urged attendees to reflect on their legacy and the significance of their actions. He also urged political leaders to uphold their electoral pledges, striving to enhance the quality of life for the populace and fulfill their duty to serve with integrity and compassion.
