Akin Rotimi Gives Palliatives To Constituents At Yuletide

Appeal To Nigerians To be Patient With Tinubu’s Government

The Federal House of Representatives member representing the people of the Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, comprising of Oye and Ikole Ekiti local government areas of the State, Honourable Akin Rotimi Junior has given Palliatives to his constituents at yuletide, with an appeal to Nigerians to be patient with the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

The Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Honorable Akin Rotimi made the above statement while speaking at Ikole and Oye Ekiti on Wednesday, where he urged the people to take things easy with themselves on the fuel subsidy removal pressure, counseling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to engage human capital development to set Nigerians on a progressive cadre.

Akin Rotimi maintained that in a recent speech made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where he said the central focus should the human capital development, where Nigerians will be given the power, infrastructure and access to capital. Our objectives is for Nigerians to do what they want to do and take care of themselves. Nigerians have to live beyond handouts and palliative to have a sustainable development, which is why the 2024  budget addresses many of these issues. 

Commenting on the death of the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, he described the late Governor as a detribalised Nigerian who has stood for the masses, adding that Ekiti, as part of the old Ondo State sympathises with the people of Ondo.

“It is deeply shocking and distressing, he (Akeredolu) is a man that I know personally; I have the access to engage him quite a number of times. Nigeria lost a truly detribalised Nigerian, a fierce defender of the truth and one who was truly a man of the masses. I think it will take a long time for us to have people of his own statue again. The consolation that I have is that he has a strong desire in naturing the people of the future general.” He said.

The Rep who distributed over 3,000 bags of rice on Wednesday as the end of the year palliative to his Federal constituency, Oye-Ikole, revealed that the palliatives are from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, which is in respect to the Government’s concern for the masses, adding that food security and agriculture Production is part of the agenda of the 10th assembly.

“We have 2 different phases; the first phase is here in Ikole, 2000 bags of rice, and the second phase will be happening in Oye, 1000 bags of rice. In addition to that, we are relatively distributing about 20 million naira. All stakeholders are here; nobody is taking it by proxy. There is also a major of accountability we are keeping here. Various stakeholders are here by themselves. This goes a long way in deepening accountability and participatory governance.

“We are trying as much as possible to make it participatory and encompassing of people of different tribes and faiths; my electoral victory is the collective effort of all.” He added.

Rotimi also said that about 40 groups are represented in each Local Government, although some are replicated in Oye and Ikole.
