Akogun Abayomi Olumide’s Son, Wife Cry Out Over Continuous Detention Despite Court Striking Our Case  

... Says His Health Deteriorating As A Result Of Diabetes 

… As Government Debunk Claims Of Witch-hunt

The first Son of Akogun Abayomi Olumide, Akogun Olumide Babatunde as well as his younger wife, Mrs Morenike Akogun Abayomi has cried out over the continuous detention of his father and husband seven days after a State High Court strikes out the case instituted against him by the government. 

The first Son and younger wife also revealed “that the health of Akogun Abayomi Olumide popularly known as Lustay is presently deteriorating being a diabetes patient, explaining that his physical his body is already shrinking on the fact that he was denying access to his personal Doctor or allowed the opportunity for any medical treatment. 

Speaking further, the victim’s first son, “Akogun Olumide Babatunde allegedly  reminded the public, that, on Thursday, 5th of February, 2026, the case of attempted robbery, robbery and rape brought against his father, Akogun Abayomi Olumide at the Ekiti State High Court Sitting in Ado Ekiti was strucked out by Justice Omotosho. 

Akogun Babatunde and younger wife, Morenike, said “six (6) days after Justice Omotosho of the Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti strucked out the case, the Correctional Service, a Federal facility  located in the State has refused to let go of Akogun Abayomi Olumide.

“They alleged that the State government in connivance with some judicial officers have been working desperately to use illegal Court order to remand their father, Akogun Olumide without any formal invitation, arrest or appearance before any judge. 

“They allegedly described the development as a national embarrassment and a serious indictment on the judiciary. 

“They also allegedly accused the administration of Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Abayomi Oyebanji, for increasingly treating members of his own political party, the All Progressives Congress as enemies just because they have chosen to support a different aspirants within the same party”. 

However, they have called on the Honourable Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake; Elder Statesman, Aare Afe Babasola, SAN; Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN; Mr Femi Falana, SAN, as well as Senator Babafemi Ojudu and all former Governors of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Dr Kayode Fayemi, Mr Ayo Fayose and Engineer Segun Oni to come to their aid, to save their father, and husband from the hand of the Ekiti State Government officials. 

Debunking the allegations from the families of Akogun Abayomi Olumide, popularly known as Lustay, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN in a press conference addressed in his office, said, 

“Akogun Abayomi Olumide was not released from the Correctional Service custody because he had a pending matter bordering on Unlawful Possession of Canabis Sativa hanging on his neck at the Federal High Court.

Giving his background information on the matter, Dayo Apata SAN, added that, “on the 5th of February, 2026; the prosecution wrote a letter for adjournment suggesting three days for the trial of the case. The Court strucked out the case despite the letter of adjournment already before him.

Speaking further, the Attorney General said, “immediately after the prosecution filed a motion for relisting of the matter, Akogun Abayomi was taken back to the Correctional Centre, emphasizing that the Ekiti State Government has no hand in his remand”.
