Amotekun Arrests Siblings, Others for Stealing and Burglary in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has achieved a significant milestone in its efforts to curb crime in the State.

Also, under the leadership of Brigadier General Olu Adewa (rtd), the Corps has arrested several individuals, including siblings, for stealing and burglary.

According to reports, Joshua Nawjul, a 25-year-old night guard at Agric Olope street in Ado-Ekiti, was arrested on January 8, 2025, for breaking into the house of Honourable Babayemi Odunayo and stealing valuable items worth approximately 15 million naira.

The stolen items included a 40-inch plasma TV, a big generator, two laptops, and cable wire.

Upon interrogation, Nawjul confess to the crime and reveals that his elder brother aided and abetted him. The duo had planned to sell the stolen items for N70,000 naira.

In relation to the development, two other suspects, John Wuyeb and Daniel Titus, were arrested in Oye-Ekiti for stealing baby materials from a shop owned by one Mrs. Omoyajowo Opeyemi. 

The suspects upon questioning confessed to breaking into the shop and have been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, the Head of the Communications Department for Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, reported that the suspects and the exhibits recovered from them have been handed over to the RRS for further action.

Adeleye urged Ekiti residents to hail the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps for working tirelessly to flush out crimes in the state, as a result of which several arrests made were due to the Corps efforts.
