Amotekun Intercepts Truck Carrying 38 Suspicious Passengers In Ondo

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has intercepted a truck carrying 38 passengers of suspicious origin in the Cathedral area of Akure metropolis, Akure South Local Government Area. The truck had traveled from Gombe State and was loaded with passengers whose destination could not be verified.

The truck, a brand-new Mercedes-Benz with registration number GML 335 XR (Jigawa), was stopped during a routine security patrol. Preliminary investigations revealed that most of the passengers were youths aged between 20 and 27 years. When questioned, they claimed ignorance of having entered Ondo State and failed to provide verifiable addresses or contact details for their stay.

During interrogation, one passenger was found in possession of a uniform labeled “Commander” along with charms. He told investigators that he is a hunter and uses the uniform for his work, but could not clearly explain his travel plan. The truck’s 20-year-old driver and 19-year-old conductor said they picked up the passengers along the route and had no prior relationship with them.

Confirming the arrest, Ondo State Amotekun Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the passengers had no definite destination. He added that the location where the truck was loaded is known to be prone to extremist activities. “We will profile all of them thoroughly. Anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law, while those cleared will be returned to their states of origin,” Adeleye stated.

The Amotekun commander urged residents to remain calm, assuring that the situation is under control. He also encouraged the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to sustain peace and safety across the state.
