ANAMBRA BYE-ELECTION: Safety First as Police Deploys Personnels

The Anambra State Police Command has announced measures to ensure a safe and hitch-free bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025. AIG Godwin Eze has been deployed as the Supervisory Officer and has taken charge of deploying and supervising police personnel for the exercise.

In a press statement, the police public relations officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that only duly accredited security personnel will be permitted to participate in election duties.

Vigilante operatives, hunters, and other quasi-security outfits are strictly prohibited from engaging in the exercise.

Vehicular movement will be restricted from 6am to 6pm in affected areas, including Nnewi North and South, Orumba North and South, Ekwusigo, Aguata, and Ihiala Local Government areas, as well as Onitsha North Constituency 1 and Awka South Local Government.

The restriction aims to deter criminal activities, reduce the risk of electoral violence, and guarantee the safety of voters, electoral officials, and security personnel. The Command assures residents of its readiness to safeguard the electoral process and urges citizens to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel.
