Anambra Police Cracked Down On Tyre Burning, Explosives During Yuletide

The Anambra State Police Command has reinforced its ban on tyre burning and the use of explosives during the Yuletide season, especially on crossover night. 

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu said the directive is meant to protect lives, prevent damage to roads, reduce pollution, and maintain public order. 

He warned that fireworks, knockouts, firecrackers, and any explosive devices are dangerous and will not be tolerated.  “Offenders will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.

Parents and guardians have been urged to advise their children against engaging in such acts to avoid legal consequences. 

The Commissioner confirmed that the Police Command, working with other security agencies, has stepped up patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations across the State.

Orutugu encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly while assuring them of the police’s commitment to protecting lives and property. 

SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, reminded citizens to report any illegal activities involving explosives or tyre burning to local police stations.

The Police Command concluded by wishing Ndi Anambra a peaceful and joyous yuletide while stressing that safety during festive celebrations is a shared responsibility.
