Anambra Police Take Firm Stance Against Misinformation

The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals and groups spreading misleading or exaggerated security-related information on social media and other platforms with the intent to cause panic and discredit security agencies.

The Anambra State Police command, through its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu has vowed to thoroughly investigate and expose those behind such malicious acts, and take appropriate legal actions in accordance with the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and other extant laws.

According to the command, these acts of deliberate misinformation not only undermine ongoing security operations but also erode public confidence in the ability of law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order.

The command has therefore advised the public to remain vigilant, avoid spreading unverified information, and support the police by reporting any suspicious activity through official channels.

The Anambra State Police Command has made it clear that it will no longer tolerate acts of deliberate misinformation aimed at causing panic and discrediting security agencies.

Also, Individuals found to be behind the spread of false or inciting content will be thoroughly investigated, and
appropriate legal actions will be taken against those found guilty of spreading misinformation, in accordance with the relevant laws.

The public is advised to remain vigilant , avoid spreading unverified information and encouraged to support the police by reporting any suspicious activity through official channels.

The Anambra State Police Command reaffirms its dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Anambra State while upholding transparency and professionalism in policing.
