Armed Hoodlums Criminal Attempts Foiled In Anambra Communities

A fresh frantic effort by the Anambra State Police Command to rid the State of criminal activities has led to the arrests of some armed hoodlums attempting to carry out their nefarious crimes in some parts of the State, with recovery of items such as two rifles, four vehicles, dagger and one Pump Action.

In a press release signed by the Police Spokesperson in Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, he revealed the arrest of one notorious member of proscribed separatist group, rescue of three kidnapped victims in separate operations and recovery of arms and incriminating items.

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Ikioye Orutugu addressing journalists while parading the criminals revealed that the Police Command under his watch has continue to improve on its efforts at making sure the State is rid of criminal activities.

He listed some of the successes recorded to include the arrest of Gospel Ozioma Nneto popularly known as “OZ”, the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims courtesy of the Divisional Police Officers of Nimo and Nteje in collaboration with Operatives of a local vigilante group and the arrest of a known terrorist, kidnapper and armed robber who was apprehended at a camp called “Mother Valley” located at
Orsumohu – Orsu, who confessed to be a photographer for the group.

The three kidnapped victims were rescued at Oraukwu and Nimo communities courtesy of the collaborations with the local vigilante members, and acting on credible intelligence. The victims will be reunited with their families following necessary medical and psychological evaluations.

Tochukwu explained that in another breakthrough, on the evening of 14th July 2025, police operatives from Nteje Division, responding to an attempted attack by two armed suspects, engaged the assailants in a gun duel. The operatives neutralized the armed hoodlums and recovered: One (1) pump-action gun, One (1) dagger, and other incriminating items.
