Reports indicate that the incident occurred as some residents were travelling from Ogbe to Egbe to attend a wedding ceremony of an Ogbe indigene based in Egbe, Kogi.

Tension is high in Ogbe and its surrounding communities following a fresh attack by bandits along the Ogbe–Egbe axis in Kogi State on Friday.

During the journey, the group was ambushed by armed assailants at the boundary area between Ogbe and Koro.

One person was reportedly shot during the attack and has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment. Five others were abducted by the attackers and taken into the bush.
