Be Peaceful During Festive Celebrations, Peace Corps Commandant Tells Ekiti Residents

The State Commandant of the Ekiti State Peace Corps, Hon. Dele Owoju, has called on residents of the state to embrace peace, unity and responsible citizenship during this festive season, describing peace as a fundamental requirement for sustainable development in Ekiti State.

In a Christmas goodwill message made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Owoju congratulated Christians in the state and across the country on the celebration of Christmas, noting that the season represents love, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence among people.

He urged residents to use the festive period to strengthen communal bonds, respect the rule of law and promote harmony within their various communities, stressing that peace remains critical to the social and economic advancement of the state.

“As we celebrate Christmas, we must renew our commitment to peace, tolerance and mutual respect. These values are essential for the continued growth and stability of Ekiti State,” he said.

Speaking ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election, the Peace Corps commandant appealed to citizens to participate peacefully in the democratic process, advising youths in particular to shun violence, misinformation and any acts capable of disrupting public order.

Owoju also canvassed support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on eligible voters to back continuity in governance.

According to him, the Oyebanji administration has demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance, infrastructural development, stability and the welfare of the people, adding that sustaining the current leadership would help consolidate peace and development across the state.

“The forthcoming election offers citizens the opportunity to make informed decisions. I encourage the people of Ekiti State to come out peacefully and support Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the APC for the continued progress of our dear state,” he stated.

He further reaffirmed the readiness of the Ekiti State Peace Corps to collaborate with security agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure a calm and secure environment before, during and after the election.

Owoju concluded by wishing residents a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism for a more united, peaceful and progressive Ekiti State.
