The Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the Ikere Ekiti Specialist Hospital, Dr Akinsipe Catherine has tasked the government at all levels in Nigeria to ensure improved welfare packages for the health workers in the Country. 

Dr Akinsipe added her voice to the call on the need for the government of Nigeria at all levels to put an end to the exodus of medical personnels to foreign countries.

Akinsipe stated the above while speaking during the donation of an ambulance by Chief Wole Olanipekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, to the Specialist Hospital at Ikere Ekiti on Tuesday. 

Dr Akinsipe in her speech frowned at the spate at which medical doctors are abandoning hospitals and health facilities in the Country, to travel to countries like Europe and America for greener pastures. 

She lamented how the development has continued to lead to the shortage of manpower in the medical facilities across the Country.

She described the situation as a dangerous one if not checked on time to avert such negative trend in the Country. 

According to Akinsipe, she said, “the exodus of doctors to Europe and America has led to the low turn out of patients in Nigerian hospitals”, she submitted.
