The Executive Chairmen of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Babatola Ogundana, his counterparts in both Araromi and Ifedara Local Government Development Areas of the State, Hon Shina Olawale Ogunleye and Hon Wale Alade have jointly presented the year 2022, Annual Budget to the local government legislative arms, tagged Budget of Consolidation.
Presenting the budget on behalf of other Chairman at the Legislative Chambers of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Igede-Ekiti, Hon Babatola Ogundana said the budget would consolidate on the activities of their administrations.
The project documents according to the Chairman, cover all areas of development like agriculture, environmental services, infrastructure, education, sports, culture, administration, women empowerment and youths development for Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Ifedara Local Council Development Area and Araromi Local Council Development Area representatively.
The estimated budget expenditure for the fiscal Year 2022, is two billion, seven hundred and thirty five million naira (#2,735,000,000.00) with Recurrent Expenditure which stands at One billion, nine hundred and twenty three million naira (#1,923,000,000.00) while the Capital Expenditure stands at eight hundred and twelve million naira (#812,000,000.00) only.
Stressing further, the Council Boss noted that since they got the mandate of the people through their votes, he promised that their administration would continue to ensure that they all enjoy the dividends of democracy, part of which he said was the grading of roads and construction of rural roads in the remote areas for improved social and economic activities as well as easy access to transport their farm produces and make life better for the people of their communities.
According to Hon Ogundana, renovations were done on four units toilets at Igede and other major markets for the use of the people as he said that without toilet, the people will be prone to disease. Hence the reason for putting the toilet in place. Others as explained by the Chairman included monitoring and proper disposal of waste at the council areas, clearing of drainage systems and purchase of new cars for the top political office holders and rehabilitation of utility Vehicles for career Staff.
Adding that their administration had also successfully participated in the State Gender Summit, held at the State Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti recently.
On Revenue Generation, Hon Babatola Ogundana explained that their administration in the three Councils have increased the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the areas just as he said that there have been maintenance of peace and order and that they have been in good working relationship with the security agents in the areas. While his administration had also concluded plans to raise 5000 oil Palm seedlings to boost farming and economic activities in the Council areas.
They all appreciated the Governor of the State, Dr kayode Fayemi for giving them enabling environment to serve their people and for Creating the 19 LCDAs to facilitate more development at the grassroots.
The proposed budget was handed over to the leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Adunbi Ayodele Joshua, who promised on behalf of his member that justification will be done to the budgets without any delay.
Speaking on behalf of all the 13 Royal Fathers in the areas ,Oba Boluwaji Adebiyi, the Alare of Are -Ekiti, thanked God and the people for the peaceful co-existence between the Executive of the Council Areas and the Legislative Arms.
The monarch advised them to always make due consultations with the Royal Fathers and the people who voted them into power to know the areas of their needs before preparing their Budget, saying “they cannot build something on nothing.”
Giving a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Araromi Local Council Development Area, Hon Wale Alade, thanked the people of the areas for the opportunity giving to them to serve and promised that their administration’s will always embarked on the projects that will have meaningful impacts on the lives of the people.
Hon Alade called for more cordial relationship and support for their administration as he equally promised on behalf of other Chairmen that the Budget will be implemented as proposed. He urged the people of the areas to keep on supporting the Governor of the State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi even as he will be handing over power to the Governor-elect, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji come October 16, 2022 who will continue from where Dr Kayode Fayemi had stopped.
