…. Says He Is Not In Agreement With Fayose’s Son On Irepodun – Ifelodun Constituency’s Ticket

The former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly and the current House of Assembly member for Irepodun / Ifelodun Constituency II, Rt Honourable Hakeem Jamiu has told the people of Ekiti State to count him out of the ongoing consensus arrangements to pick both the National and States Assemblies candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections in the Country. 

He also expressed his disagreement over the choice of the former Governor Ayodele Fayose’s Son, in person of Mr. Boluwatife Fayose as the consensus candidate for the Irepodun/Ifelodun State Assembly Constituency II of Ekiti State. 

Rt Honourable Hakeem Jamiu, one of the stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ekiti State made his position known over the weekend in a statement personally signed by him and made public.

In his message titled: “The Purported Iworoko Consensus Endorsement Of Mr Boluwatife Fayose – My Stand”, Rt Honourable Hakeem Jamiu, said, “his attention has been drawn to an online report claiming he was one of those who endorsed Mr. Boluwatife Fayose as the House of Assembly consensus candidate for Irepodun-Ifelodun Constituency II during the Constituency meeting at Iworoko on Saturday, March 14, 2026, pointing out that, though he was present there, he did not participate in the endorsement of Mr Boluwatife Fayose, adding that he had made known his stand at the meeting”. 

Speaking further over the issue, Rt Hon. Jamiu, explained that, “he did say at the meeting and in his press interview, that the party has not recommended a consensus arrangement to determine either the State or National Assemblies primaries.

He reminded the people of Ekiti State that it was only the Chairmanship and Councillorship seats that were agreed to be decided by consensus at the last stakeholders meeting at Jibowu Hall, Government House.

He also reminded the Ekiti people that no other stakeholders meeting had been held after that.

“As a sitting House of Assembly member, it is embarrassing for me to be invited to a Constituency meeting in my constituency only to be conscripted by ambush to a pre-arranged consensus endorsement”.

He however described the so-called consensus endorsement as a premature one, also reminding the people that the party is yet to issue guidelines concerning the primaries to elect state and national Assemblies candidates. 

He used the opportunity to expressed his trust in the ability of the APC as a party to allow internal democracy by creating a level playing field for all aspirants as canvassed by the National Secretariat of the APC.

He also narrated how he was assaulted and attacked by a ward Councillor who violently pushed him, and rough handled him, and threatening to kill him. 

Rt Hon Jamiu equally explained that Consensus is a means where all stakeholders need to agree, adding that the opposite was the case regarding the Irepodun/Ifelodun matter. 

He also used the opportunity to call on his supporters, friends and well wishers who have been calling him after seeing my picture at the meeting to ignore the insinuation that he was part of the endorsement.
