Dates For Ekiti, Osun Governorship Polls Made Public

The dates for the Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections have been made public. 

Announcing the dates on Friday, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, fixed the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship on Saturday, the 20th of July while that of Osun State on Saturday, 8th of August. 

He made the announcements while speaking after administering the oath of office to the newly appointed six (6) Resident Electoral Commissioners, REC’s in Abuja. 

It would be recalled that the six (6) new Resident Electoral Commissioners, REC’s were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, however assured Nigerians of the readiness of the Country’s Electoral umpire to finalising the arrangements for bye-elections to fill vacant seats in the National and State Houses of Assembly soon.
