The Delta Police Command has condemned in totality an assault carried out by some Police Officers against some community people of Ekredjebor in the Ughelli North local government area of State through a trending video online.

According to DSP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Delta State Police Command at Asaba, he described, “the video which captions some policemen who went there for an operation, was seen carrying planks and assaulting some persons as an act absolutely unacceptable.
Edafe posited that “it is not in the Command’s character to assault members of the public whom the Police are supposed to protect”.
Edafe added that planks are not part of Police accoutrements and declared that it is absolutely unprofessional of them to assault members of the public in whatever guise.
DSP Edafe however revealed that, the erring officers has been identified and the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Wale Abass has directed the immediate detention of the officers and internal disciplinary mechanisms to be put in place to ensure they are punished in line with the extant laws as stipulated in the police act and regulations to serve as a deterrent to others.

The CP, while condemning the malfeasance conduct of the officers, also urges members of the public to remain calm and assures them of the Command’s commitment to dealing with any officer who disregards the human rights of any person.
The Commissioner of Police through the Public Relations Officer counselled members of the public to always call any of these phone numbers 0915 557 0008, 0915 557 0007 or the Command Control Room on 08036684974 and report cases of abuse to human rights or any other infractions by Policemen belonging to the Command.
