… Wants Gov Oyebanji To Intervene

The Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) Chapter, has knocked the Management of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti, lamenting the poor staff welfare, calling on the State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to intervene in the internal crisis confronting the Teaching Hospital.

The MDCAN made the call on Friday (yesterday) while expressing its displeasure on many unresolved challenges adversely confronting EKSUTH as an Institution.

The newly-elected Chairman of the Association, Dr. Adeniran Atiba, who spoke while briefing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti recently, said that the hospital is facing challenges in virtually all departments and units, hence they require urgent intervention of the state government.

He said the management of the hospital had not attended to the welfare of the workforce in the areas of salary arrears, years of promotion arrears, months of unremitted association dues, cooperative deductions, as well as months of unremitted mortgage bank loans, among others.

But in a reaction to the allegations, the Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, in Ado Ekiti, Professor Kayode Olabanji, said the Teaching Hospital is not working abnormally or in any comatose as claimed by the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Ekiti State Chapter.

Professor Olabanji said contrary to the negative speculations by MDCAN, revealed that the Teaching Hospital has been able to overcome most of it’s challenges since the inception of the Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration.

Adding, Olabanji said, Governor Oyebanji has approved the payment of hazard allowances to all categories of workers, both clerical and non clerical working in the Health Institution.

Also, Governor Oyebanji has been paying the contributory pension scheme funds for health workers regularly and renovate and improve the internal structures by giving out funds to the Hospital before the end of 2023, among others.
