The current political imbroglio in Ekiti State, especially within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has exposed the high-handed and presumptuous actions of some political players as not only desperate but also, impetuous, arrogant, egotistical and reckless.

Politics, which is often about numbers, has been reduced to a game of few opportunists and elites who have found themselves in positions of power and may not want to leave based on what the law or constitution says.
The adage “every politics is local” highlights the importance of controlling a larger percentage of the electorate within your area of jurisdiction at every political circle of society.
In general, politics should be played in line with rules and regulations, which ensures justice and fairness for peace and tranquility to be experienced by all and sundry.
It is concerning, disturbing, and frustrating to see some purportedly logical but actually illogical politicians in a group with a sole aim of confronting an already established structure of an unfazed and resolute leader who has built his team around the masses, having realized the power of the electorate during general elections.

On October 9, 2025, the reality of the performance of the present administration in Ekiti State was exposed as numerous lies and blatant propaganda were unable to withstand the scrutiny of the public.
The majority of APC members and the electorate in the state turned out in large numbers, defying threats, intimidation, and every reprehensible act planned clandestinely especially in the night that, an old adage once described as “a period when honest men are sleeping”.
The government led by Oyebanji was caught off guard by divine power and God caused both government and its hired thugs to fall into deep sleep like God did to Adam in Genesis 2 v 21, the development that, paved the way for the unfettered movement of Kayode Ojo’s supporters to Ado Ekiti, the state capital. Those who overslept on the day of the official declaration were turned back forcefully by hired thugs.

The enormous crowd was unimaginable and unexpected, given the financially motivated endorsements for Oyebanji in the last six months across the state. The success of the event on October 9, 2025, has not only proved that Oyebanji and his cohorts lack capacity and ability to lead APC to victory in the 2026 governorship and 2027 general elections but has also exposed other men wearing Agbada and claiming to be political heavyweights as insignificant politicians.
If Kayode Ojo and his supporters can put Oyebanji as a sitting Governor and his cohorts to include: ( three serving Senators, six House of Representatives members, twenty-four House of Assembly members, LCDA/Council Chairmen, 177 Councillors, cabinet members, countless special Assistants, senior special Assistants, board members and others) in disarray, spending billions of naira on his disqualification, then many of the aforementioned politicians ought to have buried their heads in shame.
These set of Pseudo Democrats ran and still running helter-skelter because of only one Man like an Iroko tree in the forest. Some could not sleep neither have time for illicit affairs with their Mistresses who they prefer to spend on, the political largesse that ought to have been spent on their Constituents. Majority of the failed Politicians in the State understood the unspoken languages of majority of both APC Members and entire electorate in Ekiti now, hence the only antic remains to save their faces from impending defeat was to cynically present again Oyebanji before the people as a candidate in 2026 governorship election by making sure, Engr. Kayode Ojo was taking out the race before the primaries.

The current situation reminds one of the same scenario that played out in the build-up to the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State when the then Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi stopped the current Senate Leader, Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, from participating in the party primaries.
Senator Bamidele who is now the proponent of consensus for Oyebanji rejected all pleas by many APC Bigwigs across the Country including the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who drove from Lagos to Ado Ekiti to beg him.
The current senate Leader alongside his Supporters moved enmass in annoyance to Labour Party to contest the election but swiftly “turned off the caddle” on the eve of election day by allegedly directed all his Supporters to vote the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,

Mr. Ayo Fayose who later won the poll with landmark victory by defeating Fayemi in all the sixteen LGAs in the State, the unprecedented feat that has turned to be a rhetoric for Fayose to mock APC and its Leaders in Ekiti State .
Assuming, Fayemi’s second term ambition had been sacrificed for the unity, progress and advancement of APC and democratic system in Ekiti in 2014, the State would have been the first to win election for APC in the Country as a new Party and the taunting remark on the lips of Mr. Fayose to disparage the party and its Leaders wouldn’t have arose.
However, some political Pundits believed that, the disqualification of Engr Kayode Ojo might have been orchestrated under the leadership of the Senate Leader in conjunction with some other selfish Leaders not because of the performance of the Governor but rather than their future ambitions which they believe it will be a payback since majority of them have been tagged as utter failures in their Various constituencies.

In the same vein, the popular saying, which states, “What goes around comes around” reflects the true position of things in Ekiti State at the period.
The ongoing political development within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, particularly with regards to the governorship primary election, remains not only elusive but also unfortunate.
“The individual at the center of the political storm, Engr. Kayode Ojo deserves respect, honor, and accolades”.

But, it is disheartening that, thesame Man is now being unjustly vilified and humiltated by some defiant individuals especially within the Party, who had despite logical pleas and resolutions from the highest party hierarchy in the past previously taken the party to court and even defected to other parties, ensuring the APC’s failure in the 2014 and 2015 elections in the state. Examples include the current Senate Leader, Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, current APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, and former Special Adviser to President Buhari on political matters, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu.
However, some hired commentators or analysts in Ekiti State who are defending the illegality and injustice of disqualifying Engr. Kayode Ojo must also be bold enough to criticize the activities of the aforementioned politicians.
It’s essential to note that Engr. Kayode Ojo’s 2026 political ambition in Ekiti remains an all-Ekiti project of liberation, freedom, and development, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at bringing sustainable growth and development to all corners of the country.

Therefore, all half-informed political analysts trading their ignorance across media outlets are wasting their time and resources, trying to deceive unsuspecting members of the public who have long made up their minds to follow Engr. Ojo’s development plans for the state. It’s shameful and uncultured for a serving Senator who had contested and experienced injustice in the past to now scold another politician of the same party for exercising his legitimate franchise.
The senator’s actions are particularly egregious, given his lack of tangible achievements in the last two and a half years, aside from his growing arrogance. The baby-like thinking member of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, who had participated in other party primaries twice before joining the APC, should reflect on whether he had faced unjust disqualification in the past despite his shortcomings.
It’s unfortunate that many self-glorified analysts and commentators will be seen pouring out rotten cabbages and vulgarity just to portray themselves as polymaths in public. Some have even claimed that Engr. Kayode Ojo does not maintain his political structure of supporters. However, logically, how has Engr. Ojo been able to hijack the majority of APC members and attach himself to over 70% of Ekiti’s electorate across political parties, while the sitting Governor and his cohorts are treated with disdain?

The failure of some current political leaders in Ekiti State to seize opportunities through their performance when they had them will have consequences. The attempt to use the power of incumbency to arm-twist the most popular aspirant through blatant lies will not translate to electoral victory during the general election.
The amateur way of handling Engr. Kayode Ojo’s disqualification reminds one of a segment of Nollywood movies comedy ( Awada Kerikeri). Apart from other assistance to Ekiti indigenes, Engr. Kayode Ojo’s vehicles freely given to politicians including those who are currently serving with Gov. Oyebanji in the last two governorship contests remain matchless, despite not winning any election or appointment except his current role as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of UNN.
In conclusion, Ekiti people are watching the ongoing “naked dance” of desperate politicians across the state and are ready to tell them their resolve at the 2026 governorship election through their votes. It’s not too late to right the wrongs politically, especially within the APC in Ekiti State. However, defying the voices of wisdom will have consequences.”
