EKIFEST 2024 Holds In August 6th To 10th – Professor Ojo Bakare

The Ekiti State Government has officially announced to hold the Ekiti State Festival Of Arts and Culture, EKIFEST, from the 6th of August to the 10th of August, 2024 in the State.

Announcing the event on Friday, the Honourable Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Professor Ojo Bakare made the decision public while addressing a press conference organized by his Ministry at the State Secretariat of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ, Old Governor’s office in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Professor Ojo Bakare while speaking said the August event will attract visitors from all over the world as well as tourists which would help take and propagate the Ekiti State products beyond the borders of the Country.

Breaking down the activities for the upcoming events, Professor Bakare revealed that the event will accommodate both competitive and non-competitive events which includes the street carnival, festival markets,

traditional sports like traditional wrestling, processions, opening and closing ceremonies, exhibitions, marketing and development among others.

According to the first Professor of Dance in African, Professor Bakare said the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has given approval for the 2024 edition of EKIFEST to hold.

Bakare explained further that the EKIFEST which started in the year 2012 was established to create a platform for the local talents and for the government to bring whatever they have from their environment to the centre for the purposes of exposure, exhibitions, marketing and developments of the State.

Also, Bakare pointed out that the 2024 EKIFEST will help project the State’s products of culture, talents, creative energies and as well showcase thousands of talented youths in the villages and towns across the State.

He added that, the upcoming August 2024 event will also help to discover great talents with skills and potential actors that would be sold to the world.

He equally listed other areas which includes visual artists, printers, sculptors, weavers and graphic designers.

He urged the Ekiti people to expect visitors from within Nigeria as a Country, Africa as a Continent and the World at large.
