A total of 885 delegates have been announced by the Electoral Panel Chairman and the Governor of Kogi State, Mr Usman Ododo to affirm the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji during the primary election scheduled to hold in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State on Monday morning.

Governor Ododo of Kogi State gave the figure at the Ekiti State APC Secretariat in Ado Ekiti on Sunday evening while giving his inaugural speech to usher in the preparation for the conduct of the Ekiti State Governorship Primary Election of the party.
The Kogi State Governor, Mr Usman Ododo flanked by his Edo State counterpart, Mr Monday Okpebholo who is expected to deputised him, and 9 other members have been inaugurated as Consensus Committee for the party’s primary election in Ekiti State by the National Chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda who was represented by Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru at the opening event on Sunday evening.
Mr Nze Chidi Suru said the Consensus Committee has been saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the affirmation of the Governor of the State, Biodun Oyebanji as the sole candidate of the party for 2026 governorship election.
Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Nentawe said the affirmation, which will be held on Monday, will converge 885 delegates across the 16 local government areas of the State and it will jointly affirm Oyebanji as the gubernatorial candidate of the party.

Nentawe, represented by Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, who hailed the outcome of the delegates’ poll, also commended the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, urging the delegates to embrace peace ahead and after the consensus election.
Addressing the stakeholders at the State’s Party Secretariat, the Chairman of the consensus committee, Governor Ododo hailed President Bola Tinubu for his leadership style, saying his governance has become a reference point for other political actors in the country.
He also commended Oyebanji over his giant and developmental styles in Ekiti, saying his people-centred style of governance has made him the right choice of the residents.

“I will like to appreciate the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in us to chair this committee.
“This is a testament of his commitment towards ensuring peace and harmony in Ekiti, while also reflecting the strength of our great party and now that we are in the state, we are going to test the microphone”. He added
