Ekiti: ADC Elects Governorship Candidate Ahead 2026 Poll

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Ekiti State has elected its candidate for the governorship election scheduled to hold on the 20th of June, 2026 in the State. 

Announcing the winner of the party’s primary governorship election at the end of the collation of results held at the collation Centre located at Amor Hotel in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State on Friday morning, the Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Senator Patricia Akwashiki returned Ambassador Dare Bejide with the highest votes of 15,490.

Senator Akwashiki also announced Professor Kolapo Eleka for the second position with total votes of 12,350.

The votes of the other three include: Barr. Femi Adegbite (9,141) in the third position, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose scored 2,834 (4th) as well as Apostle Ayo Adesua (5th).

During the collation, results from three local government areas of Oye, Ilejemeje and Emure Ekiti were cancelled over alleged discrepancies. 

Senator Akwashiki appreciated the endurance and sacrifices of the members and stakeholders of the ADC in the State throughout the process of the election. 

She thanked the African Democratic Congress in Ekiti State for their endurance while the processes leading to the announcement of the final results lasted. 

Akwashiki expressed her dismay at the actions of some members of the party who made frantic efforts to disrupt the collation of results. 

She pleaded with party members in Ekiti State to always prioritize the oneness of the party as well as exercise restraints in times of crisis. 

She also appealed to party members who are not satisfied with the outcome of the primary election to seek redress with the Appeal Committee already set up by the National leadership of the party in Abuja. 

Present during the collation were officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission from both the headquarters in Abuja and that of the Ekiti State office. 

Other members of the Electoral Panel sent in from the ADC National headquarters in Abuja includes: Prince Chinedu Indigo as Secretary, Senator 

Ahmed Baba Kaita, Mrs Lauretta Onochie, Prof Bode Ayorinde and Barrister Ikechukwu Nwakwo.
