Ekiti Artisans Join Rainbow Coalition Movement To Rescue State From Poverty, Stagnation

Artisans and private business owners in Ekiti State on Thursday met with the leadership of the Rainbow Coalition Movement in Ado Ekiti, where they resolved to join hands to rescue Ekiti State from poverty and stagnation that has bedevilled the State for a long time.

Receiving the Artisans and private business owners into the Rainbow Coalition Movement, its Chairman, Mr Owoola Daramola described the decision as one in a right direction. 

He described the Artisans as a major grassroots association that can ensure that Ekiti State is rescued from poverty and stagnation as it is being experienced under the current government in the State. 

Owoola used the opportunity to advise all the Artisans associations to prepare their members for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to reopen in January 2026. 

He stressed that voter registration remains the foundation of political participation, urging them to mobilize fully so their voices can be heard in the coming governorship election.

“We must all take the CVR process seriously. Mobilize your members, encourage them to register, update their details, and be ready to vote. This is how we collectively move Ekiti State forward,” Daramola stated.

Earlier, in his own remarks, Honorable Kayode Olowookere, a strong pillar in the Ekiti Rainbow Coalition Movement, applauded the Artisans for their unity and their readiness to work with the movement. 

He reiterated that the Rainbow Coalition is a people-driven movement, not a political party, and its goal is to awaken citizens’ consciousness and ensure better leadership for Ekiti State.

He further urged the associations to keep their members informed and united ahead of the June 20th, 2026 governorship election, noting that the political platform the movement will support would be communicated in due time.

Olowookere highlighted that Artisans are among the most significant pillars of the state’s economy, and their participation in governance processes would bring about a new era of development, stability, and accountability.

The different Artisan groups which joined the Ekiti Rainbow Coalition Movement include the Auto Gear Association represented by Engineer Victor Adefemi, the Pedicure and Manicure Association of Nigeria  represented by Mrs. Abiodun Precious and the Divine Association represented by Mr. Samuel Abiodun.

Others are the Avians Association represented by Mr. Felix Ajayi, the 

Nigeria Masons Association, also represented by Mr. Niyi Dada. 

The representatives of the different Artisans in Ekiti State, at the meeting expressed their desire to ensure there is accountability and development through a more inclusive governance structure in the State.

They emphasized that artisans, being at the heart of local economic activities, have a duty to contribute to reshaping Ekiti’s political and social direction 

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by all associations to work collectively under the Rainbow Coalition Movement, mobilize at the grassroots level, and contribute to a future where Ekiti State experiences meaningful progress and responsible leadership.
