Ekiti Government Goes Tough On Land Grabbing, Encourages Peaceful Resolution

The Ekiti State Government has reiterated its commitment to tackling land grabbing and boundary encroachments in communities across the State. 

The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye has warned  perpetrators to desist from their actions, emphasizing that the government will no longer tolerate forceful land acquisition and trespassing in the State. 

The warning was issued during a stakeholders’ engagement aims at resolving a long-standing land dispute among Iropora, Osi, and Araromi Ekiti communities. 

The government urged the communities to embrace the spirit of give-and-take, promising that the Ekiti State Boundary Dispute Resolution Technical Committee would visit the area soon to determine the actual boundaries.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has also signed the Ekiti State Property Protection (Anti-Land Grabbing) Law, which prohibits forceful entry, illegal occupation, and fraudulent activities related to landed properties. This move demonstrates the government’s dedication to tackling land-related issues and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities.
