Ekiti Government To Disburse ₦1bn Profits To Youths Under Agriculture Scheme

The Ekiti State Government is set to disburse a whopping sum of ₦1 billion as profits to 4,657 youths participating on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in its Bring Back Our Youths in Agriculture programme, marking one of the state’s largest direct agricultural profit-sharing initiatives.

The disbursement ceremony will be held at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, as from 10 am on Wednesday, which will attract government officials, beneficiaries, and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, noting that the ₦1 billion represents the profits generated from the programme’s most recent farming season. He Said.

Boluwade said the initiative reflects the state government’s deliberate strategy to empower youths, strengthen food security, and reinvest agricultural earnings to create sustainable wealth for citizens and the state economy.

He explained that the programme targets unemployed and underemployed youths by providing them with farmland, farm inputs, technical support, and access to ready markets, enabling them to earn stable income and build long-term livelihoods through agriculture.

The commissioner added that the government reinvests revenue generated from farm clusters and state-led agricultural enterprises back into the sector to ensure continuity and expansion, recalling that ₦145 million was earned and shared among 911 youths under the same scheme last year.

According to him, the programme operates a cluster-farming model covering crops such as maize, yam, soya beans, cassava, vegetables, rice, and cowpea, with farm cluster centres expanded from five to twelve across communities including Eporo al, Ose, Ikere, Ogotun, Omuo, and Ise, while over 5,000 hectares of land have been cleared and five centres equipped with functional dormitories to support large-scale youth participation.
