Ekiti Govt Condemns Health Worker Assault, Vows to Punish Perpetrator

The Ekiti State Ministry of Health and Human Services has strongly condemned the recent assault on health workers at the State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) by some accident victims. 

The incident, which has been promptly reported to the Nigeria Police Force, has sparked outrage and concern over the safety of healthcare personnel in the state.

The Ministry, led by the Health Commissioner, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, has unequivocally condemned the attack, stating that any form of violence, harassment, or intimidation against healthcare personnel will not be tolerated.

The Nigeria Police Force has been informed, and investigations are underway. Those found guilty will face the full weight of the law.

The Ekiti State Government, under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s leadership, remains committed to ensuring the safety and protection of both patients and health workers. 

Also, the government is working closely with security agencies and hospital management to strengthen security measures and prevent similar incidents. 

The Ekiti State Government has reiterated its commitment to upholding the sanctity of health institutions and protecting healthcare workers. 

Dr. Filani emphasized that hospitals are centers of healing and compassion, and turning them into grounds of violence is deeply disturbing and counterproductive.

The Ministry has appealed to residents of Ekiti State to remain calm and seek redress for grievances through lawful and civil channels. 

The government urges everyone to work together to maintain a safe and respectful environment for healthcare workers to provide quality care.
