The Labour Unions in Ekiti State comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Trade Union Congress, TUC, and the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, has issued out a strong warning against all rumour peddlers and their collaborators in the State to desist, and assuring the people of the State that its relationship with the government of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji remains intact.
The Unions in a joint press release signed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Pharmacist Comrade Kolapo Olatunde; his Trade Union Congress, TUC counterpart, Comrade Sola Adigun and that of the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, Comrade Femi Ajoloko and sent to Treasure Newspaper in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, dismissed the malicious statement in circulation on the social media by some faceless individuals with the caption “The Outcome of the Meeting Between the Organised Labour and the HOS” wherein the labour leaders and Head of Service were blackmailed.
According to the joint press release, they stated emphatically without mincing words that the statement was fake and did not originate from any of the Labour Unions, be it NLC, TUC and JNC.
They added that the statement was cooked up by third columnists and evil minded souls who are bent on destroying the good relationship between the government and Ekiti State workers, thereby calling on the innocent public to disregard the fake rumours.
In a further explanation, the three leaders of the Unions in Ekiti State revealed that “the Organized Labour met with the Head of Service on the 22nd of December, 2023, at his office but the purveyor and peddlers of the fake news goofed about the subject of discussion.

“The meeting which was at the instance of both the Organized Labour and the Head of Service was to acknowledge the leadership qualities of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, particularly towards the workers and to strengthen the already existing relationship between the government and the labour leaders.
Stating further, “they argued that at no time did the HOS and Labour leaders condemned the Governor. They queried the rumours that the Labour leaders opposed some gestures of high magnitude for its members and averred that only a foolish leader will do such.
“The comments ascribed to the HOS as regards the relationship with the Commissioner for Finance was the figment of imagination of the writer just to attract cheap sympathy and achieve their ulterior motives.
“The Organized Labour in Ekiti State is headed by responsible and responsive leaders who know their onions, there is no reason to create enmity with the Government when there is no reason for one. These agents of destruction did not just start, they have always been around making attempts to throw clog in the wheel of progress and they will continue to fail.
“We hereby warned these evil masterminds to desist or face the wrath of God”, they submitted.
They however used the opportunity to appeal to members of the public to disregard the statement, while assuring the government of Ekiti State of cooperation towards recording more breakthroughs in the areas of workers’ welfare.
