Ekiti Polls: Eniola Hails Huge Turnout Of Voters

The Nigerian Ambassador to Netherland, Dr Eniola Ajayi, says there is no voter apathy in the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections in Ekiti State.

Ajayi said this on Saturday in an interview with the Treasure Newspaper  at Polling Unit 018, Ward A in Iyin Ekiti of Irepodun / Ifelodun Local Government Area, shortly after casting her vote.

She described the exercise as smooth and devoid of any form of rancour, adding that the electorate conducted themselves decently.

She said “the only problem is that some of the BVAS in some places, it’s will actually bring up names, but the fingers prints has failed a lot maybe people have aged, so this is the only drop back”

She also applauded the large turnout of the people despite the current situation in the in the country.

“No voter apathy in Ekiti, as you can see, the people are excited and very encouraged to exercise their voting right.

“It is impressive and commendable that the people are conducting themselves in peaceful manners. Here in my Ward A, Unit 018 located in Asao Compound, we are very orderly and I can attest to this because I just cast my vote,” she said.

 The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of Nigeria said, Niyi Adebayo said the accreditation process shall comprise authentication and verification of voters, using the Bimodal Accreditation System (BVAS) deployed by INEC.

The accreditation and voting are expected to commence at 8:30am and close at 2:30pm provided that any voter already in the queue shall be allowed to vote.

Adebayo said “After an election and completion of the results management procedure at the polling unit, the Presiding Officers are expected to transmit a clear image of the result sheet (form EC8A) for purpose of collation”.
