Ekiti Takes Control Of Electricity Regulation, As Pastor Tope Orolu Hails Oyebanji

In a significant development, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has transferred electricity regulatory oversight to the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau, in line with the Electricity Act 2023. This move marks a major shift in the Nigerian power sector and is commendable, according to Pastor Tope Orolu.

Pastor Tope Orolu said the Ekiti State Government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has demonstrated its commitment to improving the state’s electricity sector. With this new responsibility, the State government will regulate electricity generation, transmission, and distribution within the state, paving the way for increased investments and improved service delivery.

He said, electricity is crucial to the growth and development of Ekiti State, and this development is expected to unlock investments and drive industrialization, adding  that Governor Oyebanji’s administration has implemented various people-oriented programs and initiatives, and this achievement is a testament to his commitment to the state’s well-being.

Pastor Tolu noted that the Governor has been recognized for his efforts, with a nomination for the Governor of the Year Award on Community Development by the Independent Newspapers Group. This recognition is a welcome acknowledgement of his dedication to the state’s progress.
