EKSG Celebrates 2022 World Tourism Day As Commissioner Ojo Bakare Charges Citizens To Venture Into Tourism

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare has charged the people in the State to see tourism as means of developing the economy of the State and the Nation at large.

Bakare gave this charge today in Ado-Ekiti while celebrating year 2022 World Tourism Day with the theme “Ekiti Tourism: Think, Act and Impact”.

The Commissioner added that it was high time for the people to imagine and act tourism to become the bedrock of the Nation’s economy. 

He however revealed that the idea is to work, develop and see tourism to what will bring people together for leisure and recreation in the state as it would serve as job opportunities to individuals and generate fund into government coffer as a replica of Guanajuato, a city in Mexico which accommodates a million tourists all over the world yearly.

While delivering his lecture, Dr. Mike Adeoye admonished people on the need for them to be creative in their thinking that can bring about the aesthetic in their imagination of tourism.

He further echoed that the people should see to how their environment can be habitable by thinking deep to create what would bring leisure and as well developing the economy of their environment that has been naturally created by God. 

He quoted the popular saying that “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”  and with this, Ekiti residents should use their imagination and illusion to bring out the beauty of our environment and culture.

Also, during the lecture, Dr. Olowookere-Ayodele Olusayo added that the Citizens should be encouraged to hold on to the theme of the 2022 World Tourism Day which emphasized on “rethinking tourism”.

She emphasized on the impact of human being in tourism which she reiterated that it would ensure longetivity of life spam if truly appreciated and uphold.

Dr. Olowookere later appreciated the impact and investment of Ekiti State government in tourism which she described as one of it’s kind in the world.
