EKSG Warns Communities To Stop Allegations Of Bribery, Bias

The Ekiti State Government have issued a stern warning to communities embroiled in boundary disputes, calling on them to refrain from making unfounded allegations of bribery and bias against the government officials.

The Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye handed down the warning while mediating in a longstanding boundary crisis between Isinbode Ekiti and Eda Ile Ekiti in the Ekiti East Local Government Area.

The dispute, which has been ongoing for years, has seen both communities accuse each other of encroaching on their territories. 

However, the Ekiti State Government  assures that the Boundary Resolution Committee will visit the disputed land to determine the genuine boundary between the two towns.

Mrs. Afuye emphasized the need for the two monarchs to maintain peace and allow the matter to be resolved amicably. 

She also cautioned those accusing government officials of bribery and bias without evidence as unacceptable.

The Surveyor General of Ekiti State, Surveyor Adebayo Faleto, estimated that the disputed land is approximately 149 hectares. 

He appealed to both towns to allow the state government to intervene and resolved the dispute through a spirit of give and take.

The Onisin of Isinbode Ekiti, Oba Adesoji Akinyemi, highlights the historical and traditional significance of the disputed land, which has been a point of contention between the two communities. The Eleda of Eda Ile, Oba Omotayo Adeniran, countered that his town had secured a favorable court judgment regarding the land’s ownership.

The Ekiti State Government’s warning comes as the state seeks to resolve the longstanding dispute and maintain peace between the warring communities.
