Ambassador Eniola Ajayi and her siblings celebrated their Mother, Chief Mrs. Elizabeth Anike Ajayi who clocked the age of 90 years just as the Retired Anglican Priest, Arch Bishop Chris Omotunde charged them to be thankful to God for sparing the life of their mother despite all challenges.
Retired Arch Bishop Chris Omotunde of the Ekiti Anglican Diocese while giving his sermon during the birthday Church Service held at the Christ The Light Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti on Wednesday, enjoined the Celebrant, Chief Mrs Elizabeth Anike Ajayi, Children and Nigerians at large to always give thanks to God at all times not minding the challenges of life confronting them. He told them that the more they are grateful, the more God protects and blesses them.
Retired Arch Bishop Omotunde said the celebrant enjoyed the grace of God to attain 90 years in sound health when challenges of life have drastically reduced life expectancy to almost half of the age she was celebrating. He urged the celebrant, children and families to show gratitude to God for the grace of life their mother had enjoyed from God.
Adding, he said that their gratitudes should manifest in helping people around them and the less privileged in the society.
In his sermon titled “Thanksgiving”, the Bible text was taken from the book of Psalm 103:1-3, the clergy further admonished the celebrant and her families to think deeply and x-rayed happenings around them so as to know the extent to which God had been kind to them.
The clergy described Chief Mrs. Anike Ajayi as a loving and caring mother who is fulfilled. He prayed God to grant her grace to live more years on Earth.
In an interview with the celebrant, Chief Mrs Elizabeth Anike Ajayi, she thanked God for sparing her to attain 90 years on earth, promising to live the rest of her life to serve God and humanities.
The celebrant, Chief Mrs Anike Ajayi, appreciated God for keeping her alive in good health to celebrate the exceptional and landmark 90th birthday, saying not too many people would live up to that age.
A prominent daughter of Mama Elizabeth Anike Ajayi, Ambassador Eniola Ajayi, while speaking with Treasure Newspaper, thanked all the Archbishops, Bishops, other Church leaders and other guests who came from near and far to honour the family on the occasion of their mother’s 90th birthday ceremony.
She appreciated God for the grace that her mother had received from God so far, declaring that her aged mother had lived well. “Mama went through a lot to ensure all of her children got to where they are today”, describing her as a strong pillar and true mother who deserves the best.
Speaking further, Ambassador Eniola Ajayi, said, “My mother is the true meaning of a mother. There was nothing she possessed that she could not share with us. No matter how expensive that gold was, she would put it on us”.
My mother could sacrifice anything for us to look good. My mother is a generous person. She gives without reservation. When you entered our house, the first thing my mother would do was to ask you what you were going to eat”.
Speaking further, Ambassador Eniola Ajayi said “our mother brought us up to look out for other people who needed help. In our house, there was no segregation. She ate with us. We all ate together at the same table. There was nothing too big to give anyone. There were times that I would say I was broke, she would offer to pay my children’s school fees”.

She is a very wonderful person. She was the one who inculcated in me the ability to be accommodating and to train other people’s children. I can talk till tomorrow about my mother”.
She went further to say “My mother was a combination of hard and soft just like me. Hard when it was necessary and very soft most of the times”.
When asked about the lessons she learnt from her mother, she said “I have learnt the ability to accommodate all and sundry, not rating anybody whether highly placed or lowly placed. I treat everyone as equal”.

On her own part, the wife of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, while speaking with Treasure Newspaper described Mama Elizabeth Anike Ajayi as a God fearing woman who had served her community, children and family and lived to witness their successes.
Also, speaking, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adeoye Aribasoye, commended Mama Elizabeth Anike Ajayi for living a fulfilled life at 90. He appreciated God Almighty for granting her a long life.
Present at the 90th birthday ceremony of Mama Elizabeth Anike Ajayi includes the first civilian Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; former Governor Kayode Fayemi and wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; former Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu; the current Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Mrs. Afuye and the Wife of the current Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Mrs. Olayemi Oyebanji.
