Fear Of Insecurity, Economic Challenges Will Cause Voters Apathy In Edo Election –  KDI Predicts

The KIMPACT Development Initiative, KDI, has predicted that the fear for insecurity and the present economic challenges confronting the Country due to high cost of fuel will cause voters apathy during the Edo State Governorship Election holding tomorrow (Saturday). 

The Executive Director of the KIMPACT Development Initiative, Mr Bukola Idowu made the above predictions on Friday morning while addressing journalists during the pre-election briefing held at the Viewpoint Hotel and Suites, located at GRA, Benin City in Edo State. 

The KDI Executive Director explained further that the current level of inflation and poverty that has bedevilled the Country will no doubt negatively influence voters behaviour on Saturday. 

Continuing, Bukola Idowu stated that voters may more likely support candidates who had promised them to address the miralds of problems affecting them and impeding on their quality of living. 

Equality, the KDI used the opportunity to advise the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to always  endeavor to make adequate logistics and preparation during the election period. 

The KDI ED went on to emphasize the need to give more attention to voters education, thereby reducing the numbers of rejected votes at election times. 

He however decried the level of increase in the numbers of policemen in Edo State just as the voters’ interest and strength have continued to decrease ahead of the Saturday poll.
