Former NUJ Chairman Describes Oyebanji’s Threat Empty

Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the old Ondo State, Alhaji Deji Aiyelabowo has described the recent threats from the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji empty.

In a statement made public and tilted “SEASON OF EMPTY THREATS”, Alhaji Deji Aiyelabowo, reacting to the recent speech of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, where he threatened to deal decisively with any member of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State who dares to recognise any other member of the Party that shows up to declare his or her interest in contesting the forthcoming Governorship election in the State as a feeble one. 

He demanded that the Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to explain to Ekiti people if the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State is his business empire, registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission?

Querying further, Alhaji Aiyelabowo equally demanded the Governor to tell every member of the APC in Ekiti State if they no longer have equal rights under the Party’s constitution?

Posing a further question, Aiyelabowo requested that Governor Oyebanji should tell Ekiti people if members of the APC in Ekiti State don’t also have the right of association as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?

He however challenged Governor Oyebanji to provide answers to the questions and points he raised, to convince the members of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti as well as the people of the State that he is the sole owner of the APC.

Speaking emphatically, Aiyelabowo told the Governor in clear terms that his directive to members of the APC in Ekiti State Party is of no effect and nothing but an empty threat.

He used the opportunity to assure, and reveal that, the designated bus carrying Ekiti people to the promised land with Engineer KAYODE OJO on the driver seat has left the terminal.

He also reminded that, a few days ago, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade issued a 48 hour ultimatum to the Arole Oodua, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the 51st Ooni of Ife, over an issue he considered to do with seniority amongst the two frontline Obas in Yorubaland, the seniority he seems to be crediting to himself.

Surprisingly, the 48 hours already expired and Alaafin’s ultimatum has lapsed with his next line of action still remaining shrouded in gloom.
