Fuel Subsidy Removal: Ekiti Sets To Distribute Rice To Vulnerables To Palliate Them

The stage is set for the Ekiti State Government to distribute rice to the vulnerables living in the State to palliate them as a result of the removal of the fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while giving his inauguration speech on the 29th of May, 2023.

Announcing the decision to do so, on Tuesday evening, through the press statement sent to the Treasure Newspaper, the Ekiti State Information Commissioner, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun made it known in Ado Ekiti while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the State Executive Council.

He explained that the development would be the first tranche of similar interventions for the people by the government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Stressing, he said, “the distribution of the palliative materials would be devoid of political consideration. He emphasized that the focus is to provide succor to the vulnerables in the State.

He listed the category of people that would benefit from the largesse to include the aged, widows, pensioners, junior civil servants, iyalojas and members of the Road Transport Unions.

Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun was accompanied at the briefing by the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment; Hon. Yemisi Ayokunle and the Special Adviser on Rural Mobilization, Mrs Oluremi Ajayi.
