As House Of Assembly Members Express Confidence In The Force’s Proposed Security Measures

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Dare Ogundare, has assured of the Command’s commitment to engage in thorough investigation into the killing of Atanda Deborah, a Federal University Oye-Ekiti undergraduate student.

Disclosing this after an engagement with other security agencies and House of Assembly members in the state, the CP revealed that the investigation into the case was further intensified by a call-out from the Inspector General of of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, demanding a thorough investigation into the case, while disclosing a collaborative measures among agencies in the state to unravel the incident.

“As far as FUOYE issue is concerned, you must have heard that the suspects are in police custody and we are already working on it and the inspector general of police, IGP Olukayode has directed that we should get to the root of the matter and we are not going to leave any stone unturned. And we are going to make sure that Ekiti State is peaceful, safe and secure.”

The interface was between the lawmakers and heads of security agencies, which includes the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Vigilante, the Amotekun and others, as a platform for open dialogue to strategizing effective ways to tackle rising crime rates in the State.

Reacting to the outcome of the engagement, the Minority Leader of Ekiti East House of Assembly, Hon. Oladele Ogunsakin, expressed confidence in the resolution made with the security agencies on insecurity issue in the State, while revealing NSCDC’s decision to take disciplinary action on the recent misconduct one of its personnel.

Inter Alia, “So the measures taken, which I won’t be saying in public. The police are going to be very effective when they enforced it.

“We were able to identify, through some investigation that took place, what led to the issue of the attack on the woman at Ikere, and we also raised our concern to the Civil Defense to make sure they correct this and to ensure a disciplinary action on the personnel that were involved in this kind of incident, and they also assured us to take effective measure to curb this, so that it won’t happen in the nearest future.”

Further reacting to the engagement, the Majority leader and member representing Ekiti SouthWest II, Ekiti House of Assembly, Hon. Tolu Ige, also expressed confidence in the proposed security measures and strategies in the state.

“Security details are not meant to be discussed openly, but I’m sure with our meeting today, there will be improvement, from the assessment we have made and the strategies we have also advised. I am sure we will get improvement about security,” Tolu Ige affirms.

Also, the Chairman, House Committee on Security, Hon. Babatunde Omotayo, representing Ise/Orun and the mover of the motion under a matter of public importance, Hon. Dele Ogunsakin stated that the meeting would go a long way in resolving the recent cases of kidnapping and killing of an innocent student of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, and as well charged the Police to effectively utilise the vehicles and gadgets recently donated to them by the Executive Governor of the State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

The chairman disclosed to the press men the productive outcome of the meeting as the security agencies promised to improve in their performance. He said “They all promised us that they will improve on their daily activities to make sure that Ekiti State is safe and secure for us so for security reasons I’ll not disclose our conclusion but I’m sure you’re will hear the outcome of the resolution very soon”
