The Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado – Ekiti, Professor Kayode Olabanji has debunked the claims in some quarters that the staff of the Hospital are on strike.
In a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Affairs Department of the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH, Mrs Rolake Adewunmi in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday and sent to pressmen, “the CMD, Professor Kayode Olabanji said although the members of the Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU, embarked on a peaceful protest recently to press home their demands, stressing the development has not degenerated into closing down the Hospital against its patients”.
The CMD said inspite of the peaceful protest, the EKSUTH boss pointed out that staff have not stopped attending to patients as everyone is at work as usual.

He pointed out that EKSUTH is a Hospital where patients with various degrees of ailments and accidents including those who are in danger of dying as well as many who are anxious because of their ailment are treated; adding that as health workers, it is a calling in which the first thing to do is to attend to patients promptly.
Prof. Olabanji noted that all the agitations of the Unions and the various
challenges of the Hospital have been made known to the government and other stakeholders while appropriate measures are being put in place to resolve the issues.
